WHITE TOWERS

Materials: grid wire, plaster

2014-The White Towers- 31” H x 25” W- Materials: grid wire, plaster-A commentary of all the high rises that are currently under construction in Miami. Thought to be clean and pristine from the luminous plaster; close up the towers portray a sense of deterioration and breakdown. The warped/curved -like form, exposed grid wire, and crater-like exterior serves as a juxtaposition between clean new high rises and gentrification throughout the city. Although the new buildings make the city beautiful, the underlying consequences of gentrification are felt throughout.
